Montana has a long, rich history of brewing and hospitality. The breweries and saloons of yesterday were often the only buildings large enough to play host to town meetings, dances, festivals, weddings and even church services. Per capita few states had more breweries and saloons than Montana in the late 1800's. By 1884 breweries were established in Bannack, Billings, Blackfoot, Bozeman, Butte, Deer Lodge, Fort Benton, Glendive, Milestown, Missoula, Philipsberg, Radersburg, Silverbow, Sun River, Townsend, and of course Helena.

Today Montana is going through brewing revitalization. There are now more than twenty breweries in the state. Montana Brewing Company is proud to be part of the states' brewing tradition. In 1994 we combined the concepts of a small brewery, saloon and a restaurant to bring you a new and unique dining experience. Our diverse and "beer-friendly" menu offers great beer and food combinations for the most discriminating palette. Try pairing our Fat Belly Amber with one of our wood-fired pizzas, our Sandbagger Gold with a burger or the Whitetail Wheat with our Cherry Tart Pizza. Have fun finding your own delightful combinations.

Montana Brewing Company would like to invite you to sit back, relax, enjoy our food, award winning beer, Montana-Style hospitality and become part of the tradition.

Montana Brewing Company... small brewery... BIG BEER!

For those of you who haven't heard, the World Beer Cup awards were handed out last Friday evening in Seattle,WA. Jason and Sarah were on hand to receive our first two awards! We took Silver in the American Stout category for our MUTINY STOUT and Bronze in the Robust Porter category for our PEG LEG PORTER! These are the highest awards that a brewery can receive on the international level!
Flathead Lake Brewing was the only Montana brewery to place in any category; this is an incredible honor for us, and I personally want to thank Jason and Sarah for all their hard work to bring these awards home!

Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. The brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.

Award-winning Pale Ale. It is a very smooth, refreshing, and well balanced brew. Gold Medal from the 1997 and 1999 North American Brewers' Association competitions as the best English style Pale Ale brewed west of the Mississippi! Brewed with pale, crystal malts, and Kent Goldings and Crystal Hops. 3.8% alcohol by weight and 4.7% by volume.

Ale is the newest brew. It features a delicate hop aroma and flavor from Hallertau, Liberty, and Crystal hops balanced by malty undertones. Ale is a perfect choice any time of the year. Seasons change, your taste for Ale will not. Alcohol content 3.8% by weight, 4.7% by volume.

Winter Ale, and since it is our own creation they call it a Northern Rockies Strong Ale. Satisfies, with the fine hand selected British hops fully complimenting the smooth malt notes. After a day on the ice or in the snow, enjoy a Winter Ale.

Full flavored, refreshing summer seasonal ale. Brewed with a unique, balanced blend of spices, Northwest Hops, and Montana honey. Brewed during the early days of spring and released around the first of May each year. Light colored, light bodied, and very drinkable, Sacrifices nothing to create a flavorful beer that can be enjoyed during the height of the Summer.
